Dr. James M. Bishop’s passion for dentistry began in Madison, where he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin with an honors degree in Microbiology. He then studied at the Marquette School of Dentistry and began his career helping people with their dental needs.

Jim has always loved Alaska and wanted to raise his own family there. As a father of 7 and grandfather of 5, Jim understands the dental concerns that come with raising children and has created an atmosphere and practice that continues to nurture the concerns, pains and goals of people of all ages and all types of dental needs. Because of his interest in crown and bridge and implant dentistry, Dr. Bishop has completed numerous continuing education implant courses. Together with a team of oral surgeons and certified lab technicians Dr. Bishop has been handling implant cases since 1986.

As a commitment to serving Alaskans with the highest quality of service, Dr. James M. Bishop has worked very closely with Pete Smith of Gnathestics Dental Lab for 25 years. Pete Smith is not only known as one of the best lab technicians in the Northwest but he magnifies The Bishop Dental Group’s ability to use cutting edge materials and prosthetic work.
